Auto Warranty

New vehicles typically include a manufacturer's basic warranty that applies for either three years or 36,000 miles, whichever is first. Warranty extensions are available from the manufacturer, the dealer or independent providers. Extended warranties can only be issued by authorized insurers or surplus line carriers recognized by the Utah Insurance Department. When considering purchasing an extended warranty, you should examine the policy closely. Does the policy have payout limits? Are there deductible for any services? What is the procedure for making a claim? Do you understand the limits, exclusions and exceptions outlined in the contract? You should clear up any questions before buying an extension.
