Utah Traffic Laws

There are multiple laws that Utah drivers should remain aware of when driving. Like many other states, Utah has passed a “move over law” designed to protect police and emergency personnel who are stopped on the side of the road. When a police or emergency vehicle is stopped and is flashing its lights, drivers must move to another lane, if possible. If it is not possible to change lanes, the driver must lower their speed until after they clear the stopped vehicle. In the case where an emergency vehicle is approaching from behind, drivers are required to move to the right and stop to create room. If you have moved over for an emergency vehicle, check to see if other vehicles are following after it.
