Utah Bill of Sale

The seller and buyer engaged in a private transaction for a used car should use a bill of sale to protect both parties. To the seller, the bill of sale is proof that the vehicle's title has been legally transferred to another person. To the buyer, the bill of sale details the vehicle's purchase price for sales tax purposes. A proper bill of sale should include the name and address of the buyer and seller, plus the seller's signature. It should also describe the vehicle in detail, including the Vehicle Identification Number, or VIN. The seller is also required to fill out an odometer disclosure statement if the vehicle is less than 10 years old. Plus, it's important to list the purchase price and any trade-in allowance, if applicable.
