SR-22 Insurance

Many states across the country require drivers to have an SR-22 certification of auto insurance under various circumstances, including a DUI conviction, driving without insurance, accumulating multiple moving violations and causing an accident while driving without insurance. Typically, the driver is required to maintain this certification for a three-year probationary period. If you do not maintain insurance coverage for your vehicle, the penalties can include increasing fines, bail forfeiture and license suspension. If you terminate your coverage or allow it to lapse during the probationary period, you are required to surrender your license to the state Department of Public Safety.
